Creative curious makers, designers, artists, musicians, birdwatchers, insect watchers, wild reptiles and amphibians followers, wild plant lovers, mushrooms and lichens admirers, bacteria and wild yeast growers, urban tree supporter, nature enthusiasts, join us in exploring the ecology of Malmö.
We are looking for creative contributors that want to offer workshops, exhibitions, performances or walks during a two-day festival held in Malmö, Sweden.
Contributions should consider some of, or all of, the following ideas:
NONHUMANS IN MALMÖ
The objective of this festival is to look more deeply at nonhuman species (plants, fungi, animals, bacteria, algae, mosses, medusae, and the rest) in Malmö and to better understand the market and state forces behind rapid extinction of species globally. When we look at, and listen to other species here in Malmö, what stories are they telling?
CREATIVE CONNECTION
There are countless ways of connecting with nonhuman species without destroying or marginalising them. How can creativity open different channels to relating to other species, from fungi to fish, that don’t rely on domination? How can different crafts and design, from different people, change our understanding and relationship to other species?
SOCIAL ECOLOGY
In this post-industrial city we can find that the colonial-era myth of “man and nature” is baked into its harbours, roads, and buildings. How do social and physical systems in the city reinforce harmful relationships to other species? What ways might we reorganize the city and communities in a way that is mutually beneficial for human and nonhuman alike?
What we offer:
- Space for the event
- Promotion and frame for your event
- Supportive community
- Small budget for materials
- Meal during the festival
