Open call: Design Circles

How can we re-imagine, re-present and un/learn design practices for the futures to come?

Designers around the world have started experimenting with new modes of practices that anticipate post-anthropocentric and post-progress futures: what are these practices? And how do we gather to strengthen our commitments?

We propose a study circle for practicing designers: a space-time where we can learn from each other, sharing practices, doubts, failures and successes.

Apply to be part of a transformative exchange, allowing your practice to be part of a (bigger) whole.

Are you ready to commit to meeting with others during the course of 2026 in eight encounters lasting up to 3 hours each? The encounters will be spread in two Circles: 4 meetings in the first semester of the year (February to May), and 4 in the second semester (September to November).

IMPORTANT DATES

Application deadline 29th of January 2026.

Notifications will be sent out until the 10th of February.

Start date will be by the last week of February.

The Design Circles are part of the research environment Design after Progress: Reimagining Design Histories and Futures that seeks to carefully untie design’s entanglement with progress, and craft concrete imaginaries of a more socio-ecologically just design after progress.
