I.N.S.E.C.T. Summercamp: Resonating Worlds

Amplifying Vibrational Relationships

The I.N.S.E.C.T. Summercamp, now in its fourth year, brings together people from diverse backgrounds, e.g. design researchers, artists, architects, ecologists, biologists, biotremologists and more. We call ourselves the I.N.S.E.C.T. Collective.

Theme
This years focus will evolve around our activities within the Weaving as Worlding Practices with Earth Beings project, the Tactile Stories Project and the Research Network VIBRA attempting to bridge more-than-human perspectives, inclusive information practices and insect vibrational communication.
For the next three years the summercamp will closely colllaborate with the Weaving as Worlding Practices with Earth Beings (WeB) research project that is funded by the Swedish Research Council. WeB focuses on collaboration between the I.N.S.E.C.T. Community and the Sarayaku people of the Ecuadorian Amazon. Through shared engagement with materials such as clay, wood and textiles, the project fosters learning, interaction and knowledge exchange, exchanging artefacts as shared objects of inquiry, demonstrating vibratory, acoustic, and material properties that connect different aesthetic worlds.

Location
The event will take place at a scoutcamp and farm in Hvalso, Denmark where we explore deeper relationships with the local species of the Bidstrup forest and set up an aerial camp in the tree tops.

Methodology
The camp is based on co-creation, which means that our vision is just a starting point and framework for you to bring your ideas, questions, and interests so we can explore and manifest them together. However, over the past years we have developed a certain methodology that supports us in connecting with specific aspects of the local ecosystem and merging human and more-than-human perspectives. Co-creation and embodiment are foundations for our human ways to connect to each other and the environment, expanded by a specific focus on a local ecosystem and related companion species (a method we developed inspired by Haraways Camille Stories). The two perspectives are worked with through the focus groups Mapping Ecologies, Becoming, and Critical Making.

Commitment and registration/application
Our co-creation ranges from setting the food menu to deciding together how we structure our days. Therefore, we are looking for participants who can contribute enthusiastically to planning before (from May onwards online), generating during (August 24 -30 in person), and evaluating after (from September online) the I.N.S.E.C.T. Summercamp 2025.
In order to curate a vibrant group, we would like to get to know you better and therefore ask you to answer this form. We have in between 15 and 30 spaces to offer, and want to gather a lively mix of people. We also want to make sure that we have enough capacity for the preparation and planning prior to the camp and also for aftercare, reflection, processing and documentation.

To register/apply please fill out this form. I.N.S.E.C.T. Community members are favoured if they register before April 15th. Please indicate in the form if you are an alumni or newcomer. We will be accepting applications until April 30th and will contact you in the first week of May with next steps.
